"Heather Scheer is a very skilled speech therapist and our son just loves her! He has been seeing her for 3 years and his growth/improvement has been wonderful to witness over the years. Heather’s approach to treatment reaches well beyond the weekly therapy appointment to include partnering with other service providers in our son’s life. As an example, she is an integral part of the IEP team and works closely with school personnel to ensure his treatment plan compliments and builds on what he is learning in school. Heather also ensures she stays current on treatment strategies and integrates different approaches into the treatment plan as appropriate. A recent example of this is her introduction of the iPad. Our son loves this tool and it has been a powerful way for him to hear how he sounds and work to improve his prosody and conversational skills. "Hiring Heather to work with our son when he was diagnosed with autism was the best decision we have made for him. Therapists and treatments have come and gone over the years, but Heather has been a constant. She is very innovative in working with our son’s interests to motivate and engage him. Their sessions are fun and age appropriate, and they have a very positive relationship. Our son always looks forward to seeing her. She is always there for us to brainstorm new behavioral and social challenges as they arise, and our son has grown from an out of control, non verbal toddler into a charming young man.
